About me:
I am a director of Abacus 155 Limited trading as Abacus smarter accountants, based in Ripon and operating since 2007. We deliver the full range of accountancy services in a friendly but professional manner to clients mainly in Ripon and North Yorkshire ranging from individuals wanting tax returns done, through sole traders to Limited Companies with a turnover upto £5 million.
Prior to that I was a Finance Director in the food industry.
I got involved in the Chamber to help Ripon have an even better business community and I believe the Chamber has an important role in developing and implementing a plan to improve businesses and to represent businesses to other organisations.
On a personal level I moved to Ripon in 2000, I am married with 2 grown up children and I enjoy all sports, especially football, where I am a referee now that I am too old to play.

30+ years of board-level experience as managing director, finance director and company secretary. Involved with public and private companies; the work ranging from start-ups through on-going development and organic growth to business acquisitions & disposals, mergers and flotations.

Although only recent arrivals in Ripon, Deb & I had been visitors to the city on a number of occasions previously.

With family now living in Edinburgh, Nottingham and London, its accessibility and glorious location make it the ideal base for personal and business reasons.

About me:
For the last twelve years John has been self employed, and currently runs an Office Supplies business based in Ripon.
Prior to self employment, John spent 22 years in the Banking & Finance industry, rising up to Corporate Manager before voluntarily leaving to run his own business. He has a strong background in Finance, Sales & Marketing and Customer Service.

About me: I was brought up in Harrogate and now live & own a business in Ripon, having returned to Yorkshire in 2010. I feel passionately about Ripon and its future, both culturally and commercially. It has a great deal to offer and therefore the potential for attracting both visitors and residents well into the future. I am excited to be part of the Ripon Chamber and to have the opportunity to work with other  local business owners to help further develop that potential.
I started my first business at 22 years old and from there worked with entrepreneurs in firstly the telecoms industry and subsequently in computer software. From being Sales Director for a Leeds based Cellular Airtime company in my mid 20s, I moved to London with Carphone Warehouse as part of their initial management team and was responsible for setting up their Corporate Accounts and Customer Services divisions. I  took a career break from the City to start a family, studied Physics with the Open University and then jointly set up an AI computer software company based in Surrey, developing both national and international corporate clients and securing Venture Capital for further expansion. 
Having moved back ‘up North’ in 2010 I do some independant consultancy work assisting various SMEs with their sales and marketing strategies and also invested in Ripon Revivals in 2015. In my spare time I enjoy dining with friends, cinema, walking in our wonderful local countryside, live music, yoga and skiing when I get the chance!
